Family Therapy

Promotes Healthy Attachment & Effective Emotional Coregulation

Some parents prefer to take part in their child's therapeutic experience from the start while others use family therapy adaptations as needed throughout their child's treatment to support optimal results. Here is an overview of the play-based family interventions offered:

Marshack Interaction Method

Assessment method utilized at the beginning and end of therapy to identify attachment patterns between caregiver & child

Theraplay-Based Activities in Family Therapy

Therapist leads caregiver and child in activities focused on structure, engagement, nurture and challenge to promote secure attachment

Child Parent Relationship Therapy

"Rooted in the theory of Child-Centered Play Therapy, this family model is based on the belief that a caregiver acting as an agent for change in place of a play therapist has potential for significant and lasting therapeutic gains." (Landreth & Bratton, 2019)

Family-Based Adlerian Play Therapy

In this family adaptation caregivers join their child in semi-directive adlerian play therapy sessions using toys, stories, art, drama, puppets, and role-playing as the vehicle for communication to solve problems and reinforce positive treatment outcomes (Kottman, 2011).
