New Headshot 2024.jpg

Hi, my name is Dr. Kristi Cronan, and I am the founder of Family Quest Counseling @ Play Therapy Center of Georgia. I am honored you are taking the time to explore your treatment options with us. Whether you decide to schedule an appointment for official services or simply follow our blog and social media for inspiration, practical parenting solutions or to learn about yourself, we look forward to partnering with you!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia, an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S™). I received a Bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in psychology from the University of North Georgia, a Master's degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University, and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University. I have had the opportunity to teach and supervise emerging therapists locally, nationally, and internationally. My research is focused on attachment needs across the lifespan. This has led me to research sexual identity development in both heterosexual and LGBTQIA+ communities, play therapy, evangelical purity culture beliefs and recovery, high demand religion recovery, and their intersectionality with the experiences of millennial women and LGBTQIA+ individuals. What is most important to know, though, is that I am a regular person like you who is here to help.

My training and clinical experiences are centered around people across the lifespan. Regardless of the age, I have a passion for empowering my clients to fight back against emotional distress and live authentically. Whether the challenges developed because of early life events, trauma, or have manifested due to the strain of the everyday demands of life or family dynamics, I make it a priority to understand each client’s unique perspectives to help them find fulfillment and symptom relief through individually tailored treatment plans.

Adult Specialty Focus

When working with adults, I most frequently specialize with anyone who has experienced religious trauma, codependency issues, attachment wounds, and shame-based living. My clients are often women or LGBTQIA+ individuals who were raised in Evangelical Purity Culture, high-demand religions, and/or cults that are seeking to discern what aspects of their history are helpful and aligned with their current world views and well-being and which are not. This process of deconstructing (and potentially reconstructing) faith perspectives, developing healthy boundaries, and learning to connect with others in secure ways is daunting, but authentic, restored living lies on the other side.

I've been honored to see many brave people like you experience deep healing through experiential therapies like Gestalt Therapy. Sessions are supportive, non-judgmental, and individualized for your needs and comfort level. We frequently use interventions like role plays, mindfulness exercises, and creative expressive directives to explore the connections between your mind, body, and emotions in the here-and-now moment while building awareness of your patterns and their impact. Your autonomy and confidentiality is always reinforced and respected.

Clients can expect to enhance healthy attachment by learning to connect with themselves and others in a vulnerable way. Additionally, they will develop the ability to experience themselves as beautifully distinct from others with the ability and right to request their needs be met within relationships. They will learn to experience both the positive & negative realities in life simultaneously, so they can take ownership of their lives & appreciate opportunities to make healthy decisions.

Pediatric Specialty Focus

If you are looking into care for your child, it is useful to note that I have completed the rigorous requirements to be credentialed as a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S™). I have worked with diverse children ages 3 to 12 attaining over 12,000 direct play therapy client hours to date in a private practice setting. I enjoy this arena because it enables me to partner with parents to help their children deal with LGBTQIA+ support, anxiety, depression, trauma, autism, ADHD, and other pediatric mental health concerns. This partnership creates an increased quality of life that can be seen even years after treatment has ended.
